Song Birds - Mini Art Journal

Today I have sweet little journal page in the mini journal I made using my memorydex dies.

First, I did some fun but simple background texture with distress oxides, the leaf branch stencil, and Spotted and the "rain" from Puddle Jumpers and then I toned it down a bit with watered down white acrylic paint. I stamped one of the birds from Song Birds on top of this and colored it with my Polychromos colored pencils. They work great - easily coloring over other things! Finally I used Versa Clair Nocturne ink for the sentiment/verse.

I hope you like it and are inspired. Sometime a little canvas is just what you need to keep creative!

Thanks for stopping by!!

All Things are Possible...

Luke 1:37

37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”

All things are possible - ALL THINGS - when you have faith in the Lord. While God can do all things, he does not promise to make all of our wishes come true. We must have faith and remember He knows what is best for us, and He has a plan for us, and to that end, nothing is impossible for Him.

I think I need to say this to myself every morning before I start my day just as a gentle reminder that everything is in the right hands and everything is going according to plan and even when times seem bleak they are not impossible - nothing is because I have Faith in God for whom NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE!

Today's journal page (I hope) conveys this verse.

I used Distress Inks for my background and flowers. I did prep my page first, but I wish I hadn't - the inks didn't want to set and it took a while to get it to look like I wanted it to. My stamps were the Creative Worship: Whimsy Bouquet Clear Stamp Set. To finish it off, I decided to try my own handwriting for the words. Maybe a little more practice is needed :) but it is good I think.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great Day!

In The Morning...

Psalm 143:8

Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
    for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.

What better way to start the day than knowing of God's love for me. In trusting Him, I I better walk the walk He wants me to. It is when I try to do it on my own that things become more confusing. As a new year approaches, I resolve to work harder on trusting in the Lord and starting each day anew in His love.

For today's journal page, I have combined a couple of digital images. I printed them onto vellum (Strathmore printer Vellum) and colored my page with Polychromos pencils (pencils work great on vellum!). Then I inserted it into my new small pocket Bible - this is a fun little Bible that I can't wait to play with a little more.

I don't play with SNSS digis very often but there are a lot of cute ones in the store. The links to the ones I used are: In the Morning Digital Stamp and Butterfly & Flower Digital Stamp

I hope you were inspired today and I wish you a Happy and Blessed New Year!

Wise Men Still Seek Him!

Matthew 2:7:12
7Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you have found him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.”
9After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.

These Magi, knowing of the prophecy of the Messiah, followed the star. They found him, worshiped him (as one would God), and gifted him treasures (fit for a King). These very wise, important men knew how special this baby was! How could someone like you or I fail to do so?

This time of year is often very stressful and hectic. We are trying to get the perfect gifts for those on our list and often we forget that this is His birthday, His day to be celebrated. So this year, when you are out shopping and fighting the crowds, take a breath and remember what the season is about the remember that no matter what you choose, the greatest gift was already given with the birth of Jesus and to this day... "Wise Men Still Seek Him!"

After I created a clean and simple Christmas card using the We Three Kings Clear Stamp Set, my friend insisted she wanted it for her Bible.

I tried a couple of things and finally got the formula right. I used vellum and distress inks for the background and archival ink for the silhouette and created an insert for my Bible.

The thing I love about this vellum page and silhouette stamp is that the beauty is on both sides of the page.

I hope you have been inspired and I wish you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas!

God Showed Up!

Daniel 3: 17-25
17"If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18"But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."…19Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial expression was altered toward Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He answered by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, "Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?" They replied to the king, "Certainly, O king."25He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!"…

Oh to have faith like Shadrach, Meshack, and Abegnego ... to literally walk into a burning furnace and know that God will deliver me and even if He doesn't, my faith will not waiver as I know that He has bigger, better plans for me and He will be with me as I walk through the fire.

My Bible journal today is to remind me of this...I went simple and created a bookmark using the Sweet N Sassy Exclamations Set and the image proclaiming "God Showed Up!"

What a great feeling and a huge blessing!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day!

Under His Wings

For my Bible journal page today, I am still in the book of Psalms - 91:4.
"He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge..."

I love the image this brings to my mind. I think about a movie or a book when danger occurs and the protector throws themselves over the innocent to keep them safe.

While life doesn't often bring explosions and such, we do have upsets and disappointments and knowing that when we are in need of protection, God will tuck us under His wings and keep us safe, is so comforting to me. It is such a blessing going into each day with this picture in my mind.

For this page, I used Sweet N Sassy Stamp Set - Creative Worship: His Wings. I also used a few Alphabet Sets Chunky Alpha, Skinny Caps Alpha, and Skinny Lowercase Sets.

I stamped the feathers onto the page with Versamark ink and heat embossed with clear powder. I then used distress inks (Rusty Hinge, Antique Linen, and Vintage Photo) for a water color wash. I Inked up the words with Archival Jet Black Ink.

I hope you are inspired and that your day is a blessed one! Thanks for stopping by!

Peace on Earth!

Today I have a Bible Journal page using the new "Peace on Earth" set. I hope to do a matching page on the other side with some of the other images in the set.

It is hard to believe it is time to do a Christmas page but it is just around the corner and what better way to prepare for it than to remember the reason we celebrate. And in the craziness that is the world today, what better reminder that Peace on Earth will be granted to those with whom God is pleased. What a gift of Hope to those who believe in and strive to please God.

My page uses Distress Oxides for the background and the earth and adds some touches of Distress inks. I splashed on a little pearlized water color to create a look of stars. Note: I didn't prep my page and found out the hard way that while distress oxides don't really bleed through...distress inks do. That's OK - I love this page and the backside is a challenge for another day right?

I hope you were inspired. Thanks for stopping by!

King of Glory

For today's Bible Journaling, I revisited Sweet N Sassy Stamp Set - Creative Worship: Child of the King. This set is so wonderful. It is simple yet powerful; just like my page today.. I am in Psalms - the 24th. It talks about the awesomeness of God - He is the King of Glory! - The statement itself is powerful - right?

I stamped the image directly onto the page and used color pencils it color it. To keep it simple, I didn't use any background inks... The "King" stamp actually says "Child of the King" so I masked off all but "King" for my page.

I hope your day is a blessed one! Thanks for stopping by!

Gracious Words are Sweet!

“Gracious words are like a honeycomb. Sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Proverbs 16:24
When I read this, it makes me think about how someone reacts when I smile and/or give them an encouraging or kind word. They visibly brighten and stand taller. It really takes so little to offer this kindness and the outcome is so much more.
As I go through the day to day motions, I often look down at my computer, or a report, or any number of things, and while I trudge on without looking up and smiling or speaking to those around me, I realize that it is just as much a loss for me as it is for them because, while they may smile and stand taller from my kind words, I believe I have the same reaction simply by knowing I caused it in another.
This was such a fun page to do and I definitely felt God’s reminder in the message...
Supplies:
  • Ink: I brushed Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Distress ink onto the page then added the same colors to my craft mat where I spritzed them with water so I could pick up with my brush and flick some droplets onto the page. I inked the honeycomb and verse in Versafine toffee ink and the bee in Versafine Onyx black (on watercolor paper then I embossed with clear). I used metallic white watercolor on the wings and fossilized amber on the body. After it dried, I fussy cut the bee out and glued it in place with Yes! glue – this really works well without pucker the page to much on the back side…
Thanks for stopping by – Remember to offer a kind word to someone today!

I will Sing!

Ever have one of those days (weeks) where you just want to cry and then a wonderful friend does something that reminds you that you don't have to do everything alone? You just know that God has placed them in your life for a reason (even if it is just to listen or to insist you go see a movie you didn't think you were emotionally ready to see - The Shack)
After the week we'd had, my dear friend said "I really want to see this and I think we should see it together. It will be good for us." While it may not be "completely accurate", it certainly spoke to me and reminded me that God is "particularly fond of me" and He is with me during all of my times of stress (and sadness, and anger, and frustration, and happiness, and...) so how can I not see his presence in it somehow?
As I was preparing my Bible journal for today, I was feeling a little lighter than yesterday and found Psalm 59:16-17. I think it is perfect for how I am feeling!
16 But I will sing of your strength; I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress.17 O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love.
I used color pencils and the Sing Loud and Chunky Alpha sets.
I hope you are having a blessed week and if you are not know that God's steadfast love is yours too! And know that someone from Georgia has you in their prayers today! Thanks from stopping by!

I Am Forgiven!

As Easter approaches, I can't help but think of how blessed and how loved I truly am. It is hard to believe that He loves me so much but there is no greater proof of His love than His sacrifice for me. That I am forgiven is definitely a sign of His love and His grace (meaning that I don't get what I deserve!).
Today's journal page is on Ephesians 1:7 "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,"
I used a few Sweet 'N Sassy Stamp sets to create my page today. I created the background with distress inks and filled in some of the images with Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens.

Lord Help Me Grow According to You Word!

I have had today's main image colored up for a while. I have actually colored it twice because I fell in love with the first one and just couldn't cut it as was the original plan. Here is the first one... It is water colored and I am kind of wanting to frame it.img_7541
When I colored it the second time, I felt it was no longer meant for the verse I had been praying over. The more I looked at it, the more I felt that the image and the sentiment was too big for one verse - it was meant for all my verses. The prayer to help me grow according to God's Word really spoke to me, I mean this is one of the main reasons I Bible journal. I want to spend time in the Word and I want to grow in It.
Soooo I decided to put it in the front of my Bible to remind me EVERY time I open my Bible that this is no simple book, but the Word of God, and that the time I spend in it, is my time to grow closer to Him and to praise Him in doing so.snss-your-word
My final page ended up using one main stamp and pieces from a couple of others:

Behold, The New Has Come!

Happy New Year Sweet N Sassy friends!
My Bible journal page for today required a lot of layers so I was a leery of going directly into my Bible with it; therefore, I created a vellum insert. It is fairly simple. The year (in a fun way) and the verse I wanted to concentrate on...

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
This seemed a fitting verse for a New Year...this is a new beginning with all the potential in the world. I didn't make any resolutions, but I do want to be a better listener this year. I have many things I have been praying for and this year, I need to "listen" for the answer. I am excited and anxious, but I know that God has a plan for me and, if I listen to Him and not try to go my own way, it will be revealed.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful NEW Year, and I hope that you "hear" the answers to your prayers this year too!
