Receive The Savior

{jane bosi}  Happy Holidays, Sweet Friends!!  Today, I'm stepping away from my bible journaling and sharing a project I created to bring the pages of the gospel right to my fire place mantle.  I created this 6x6 reverse canvas to feature the image of the Holy Family found in the Receive the Savior stamp set.

I've been wanting to try my hand at the reverse canvas for awhile.  It was so super easy---I can't wait to make more!  I love working on mixed media projects.  The great thing is how they just sort of unfold--kind of like life.  For this canvas, I used a variety of ink sprays, white paint, metallic texture paste, a stencil, gel medium and some random goodies laying around the Studio that sparkle and shine (it's super sparkly in real life!!). "Merry Christmas" is a wood piece I found in the dollar zone last year; mixed media makes a case for hoarding, for sure!

As we move into December, keep in mind the real reason for the season and be sure to take time to enjoy the greatest gift of all!

Blessings, Jane

As for me...

Hi friends,

I'm sharing a page with you today that I had marked in my bible a long time ago as a really profound verse that I wanted to meditate on:

Psalm 73:28
But as for me, it is good to be near God.
I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge;
I will tell of all your deeds.

I love this simple declaration: as for me, it is good to be near God. Other people might choose to be near many other things or people, but for me, I want to be near God. What a wonderful thought! Being near to God means making Him our refuge in every season of life, allowing Him to be our  shield and protection. As much as it is good to be near family and friends (and even a radiator in this cold British weather!), no one else can ever be as faithful and strong as our God. Let us draw near to Him, make Him our refuge, and declare His deeds to those around us.

I created this page by layering acrylic paints in the background, then creating the verse over the top using alphabet stickers and a combination of Sweet n Sassy stamp sets, including Good Shepherd, God is Good and His Wings. I also added some flowers with Scribble Flowers and coloured them with gelatos. I can't seem to resist adding butterflies so I added this lovely washi tape.

Check out the gorgeous Scribble Flowers set:

Did you know that you have a chance to win this stamp set until this Thursday, 30th of November? Just head over to the @sweetnsassystamps Instagram page or our Facebook page and find out how to enter!

Have a blessed week!

Restoration

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm—My great army that I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will My people be shamed. Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will My people be shamed." Joel 2:25-27
Dear Friends,
Joel speaks of a locust invasion which destroyed Israel's crops. It would take years to overcome this. Joel used the locust invasion to illustrate God's judgment. The verses above were God's answer to Israel. He would restore them. When His people repent, He restores them and blesses them in a way that more than compensates the lost years. And the restoration wasn't only to be physical, but also spiritual as they would praise God. God also speaks of His people never again being ashamed. This has yet to happen. Ultimately, He will totally restore Israel.

The good news is that we as believers in Christ can also trust that God will restore us too. This promise was specifically made to Israel. And yet, God will restore our empty years- the years the locusts have eaten, the years the enemy has stolen. In Christ, and because of Christ, we are fully restored. Thank You, Jesus!

For this page, I used the following Sweet n Sassy Stamps sets: Skinny Caps Alpha, Lynzee Script Alpha, and Scribble Flowers. I painted the background with acrylic paint. I used bubble wrap to sponge on the pink and green paint. I used a white Sharpie to highlight "restore".

Be restored in Him, my friends. Blessings, Andrea

Share the Good News ♥

Hello Friends! As we prepare for Thanksgiving I wanted to share a page with you that I created from my sermon notes from this past weekend. Our passage was 1 Thessalonians 5:12-18

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

And our pastor asked us, are we living a life that we are identified as sharing our faith, sharing our joy, sharing our hope we have in Christ? That's what sets us apart from others, and God will send people your way specifically for the reason of you being able to share the good news with them. So friends what are we focused on today? Are we focused on the one negative thing that happened today, because the devil is trying to throw us off? Or are we rejoicing with thanksgiving in our hearts the hope we have in our Lord Jesus Christ?

For this page I journaled Psalm 96:1-4
Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
 Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
I decided to keep this page super simple I used 3 colors of pigmented inks I had from past Illustrated faith kits. and I used coordinating Faber-Castell big brush pens to highlight the verses. I used the Choose Faith stamp set for the entire page. I stamped everything in black archival ink first. Then went back and stamped with colored ink to fill in "Faith" "Hope" and "Joy"
I then added some Illustrated Faith Washi with some cute little acorns on it, wordfetti, and a super cute page marker and I was done! My goal has been lately to keep my pages under 30 minutes, which sometimes can be a huge challenge to me, but this was proof that you can throw a simple page together in under 30 minutes!
Hope y'all enjoyed my page and have an amazing holiday! Let us remember as we go out this season to live with Thanksgiving in our hearts!

So Happy!

I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord
and they shall be my people and I will be their God,
for they shall return to me with their whole heart.
Jeremiah 24:7

There is absolutely nothing in life that gives me more joy than my relationship with Jesus.  No one is closer to my heart, even those here on earth whom I dearly love.  I came to know Jesus at a young age so I have spent most of my life getting to more intimately know Him.  He has lavished His love upon me and has forgiven me more times than I can count.  To know Him is to love and trust Him above all.

The more I surrender to God, the more I sense His Spirit within me.  As I relinquish, I gain.  One of my most treasured ways to get to know God more deeply is to soak up His Word.  That's why I love Bible Journaling so much.  It takes me into His Word in a unique way.  Sometimes I study deeply, sometimes I read for refreshment, pleasure and encouragement.  And sometimes I search for inspirations for my art expressions.  In January I plan to begin a Bible reading schedule that will take me through the Bible in a year.  I've done this many times and I never fail to find new treasures, new perspectives on how to apply His constant truths.  I love His Word...and I love every new facet of my God  I come to know through the pages of my Bible.  But one of the most treasured promises He offers is that I am His...I belong to Him.

This passage in the New Testament book of Galatians echos the theme of belonging to God through the redemptive work of Christ.  Once we surrender to the Lordship of Jesus in our lives we become a child of the King.

Through our inheritance in Christ, we have everything we need for fulfillment, happiness and joy.  We can live confidently because we know our Father and we know He will take care of us.  We are free to enjoy His blessings...one of the greatest being that His Spirit, His person, resides within our hearts.  That is a lifeline connection to our Father.

Go, spread the good news

Then He told them: Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world.
Mark 16:15
Jesus told the disciples to go and share the good news. To everyone in the world. When you’re just with eleven man that must have sounded like a mission that could not be completed. And well, we’re still busy spreading the gospel. With the internet it seems much easier these days but you still need good teachers to explain everything that’s in the bible. So… it’s good to realize yourself every now and then that we’re still part of a living gospel that needs to be shared around the world. I don’t mean that you have to travel around the world (if you feel like you’re called to do that, that would be great too) but you can show a little bit of Gods love through your own life to the people around you. In these days before Thanksgiving and Christmas, it’s good to share some love :).
I made the background for this page with acrylics. I added them with a piece of paper towel. I used light layers so you can still read the text on the page. I stamped the words and images (from the set 'Send Me') with a black ink. I decided that I wouldn’t add a lot of color because of the bright background colors. They’re already adding enough color to the page. I did add a couple of white accents with a white gel pen. The clouds and the bike are rub-ons that I rubbed onto the page.

God Showed Up!

Daniel 3: 17-25
17"If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18"But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."…19Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial expression was altered toward Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He answered by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 24Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, "Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?" They replied to the king, "Certainly, O king."25He said, "Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!"…

Oh to have faith like Shadrach, Meshack, and Abegnego ... to literally walk into a burning furnace and know that God will deliver me and even if He doesn't, my faith will not waiver as I know that He has bigger, better plans for me and He will be with me as I walk through the fire.

My Bible journal today is to remind me of this...I went simple and created a bookmark using the Sweet N Sassy Exclamations Set and the image proclaiming "God Showed Up!"

What a great feeling and a huge blessing!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day!

He will shelter you...

Hi friends,

There is such shelter, safety and security when we find our refuge and dwelling place in God. No matter what storms may be swirling around us, no matter what the enemy tries to throw at us, no matter where our choices may have led us, the shelter of the Most High is always ready to envelop us under His wings in loving care and protection.

Psalm 91:1-4
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you
from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

I love this image of God covering us, sheltering us with His wings, like a bird covers and shelters her little chicks. Our Heavenly Father longs to nurture and protect us with His lovingkindness and faithfulness. All we need to do it to dwell in that place of refuge and to declare our trust in Him. We don't have to defend ourselves, to desperately try and figure out how everything is going to work out... No, we just need to dwell and declare.

I used the beautiful His Wings stamp set to create this page, with a little help from Words of Life: Collection 2 and All Your Heart. Did you know that today (11th of November) you can get His Wings at 25% discount when you buy two or more sets from the gorgeous silhouette range of stamps? Just quote 2SIL25 at the checkout!

I pray you would be encouraged today to find shelter under the wings of our Most High, Almighty God, and that in that secret place of refuge you would find comfort and rest.

{janebosi}

Choose Whom You Will Serve
Joshua 24:15

"...choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

WORD.

Be blessed, Jane

Thankful Heart ♥

Hello Friends!
It is officially the season of gratitude, So to keep on with the theme I wanted to document it in my hymnal. I took some step by step pictures, but pretty much this was done with the super easy card swiping paint technique!
I'm here sharing how I created this pretty page in my hymnal using the Sweet n Sassy "So Grateful" stamp set!
At the end I'll show the picture with all the paint and supplies I used. The first step was just swiping the paint. I statred with my darkest color orange, then used pink, gold and white. Since you put a really thin layer it dries pretty much before you even get to the next color.
I then made some gold and white crosses using the paint card by just applying a little bit of paint at the end of the card and pressing to the page vertically, reapplying paint, then making the cross horizontally.
This gold color is gorgeous and I'll admit... I am a little bit obsessed currently!! LOL
I then placed my gold hearts, empherma I found from a craft store, and used my ranger archival ink to stamp "grateful heart" and "thankful heart".
I just love all the gold on this page! the pictures just do not do justice to the pretty shimmer!
I added a gold bow clip that I made and splattered a little bit of black paint, and I was finished!
Below is my finished page and all my supplies except for the black watercolor I used at the end to splatter.
Hope y'all enjoyed my page, for more inspiration you can follow me on Instagram @my.creative.worship and Sweet N Sassy @sweetnsassystamps
