Big House

Friends, remember the song by Audio Adrenaline, "Big House"?  I love that song, and when I saw the new set, Love Your Neighbor, I knew I had to journal it.

In John 14:1-3, Jesus tells us, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am." Jesus is preparing a place for us. And He will come back and take us with Him. Thank You, sweet Jesus! I am continuously amazed at how He loves us and what He does for us. He is an amazing God! I want to go to the Father's house. Don't you?

Come and go with Me
to My Father's house.
Come and go with Me
to My Father's house.
It's a big, big house
with lots and lots a room...

For the page, I used the following Sweet n Sassy Stamps sets: Love Your Neighbor, Send Me, All Your Heart, Skinny Caps, and Fly High.

Have a blessed week, sweet friends! Jesus loves you! Andrea

Got Good News?

Throughout the course of any given day we are likely to share a lot of good news with others.  A great deal at a store, a new way of doing something, happy news in the family might be a few bits of good news we encounter every day.  Yet there is no better news for the human race that the great news of Jesus Christ.  That a high and holy God of heaven would stoop to earth desiring to draw us into relationship with Him is amazing enough.  That His love is so big and so broad that He would sacrifice His Son for us is breath-taking news.  We who are believers have been given a precious gift, and it's certainly a gift with no end.  We can extend to others the same good news we received when we trusted Christ.

Whoever believes can have eternal life with the Father.  What better news could there be? So why don't we share THAT news more often?  If you frequent our Creative Worship Facebook page, I invite you to take a peek at another page I did with the fabulous Rebecca Rios set, Send Me.  On my post there I did a video devotional and offered some practical ways to make sharing the Gospel a little easier, a little less intimidating.  I hope you'll check it out.  The video is in two parts.  Part 1 explains the passage and the design plan.  Part 2 is the devotional part of the video.

I absolutely love this new set, Send Me.  It has amazing and abundant possibilities.  Just scroll through our posts here to see what some of the other designers have done with this.  Such a fun set.

I also used the sweet phrase, "don't be afraid" from the set Fly High.  In my video I discuss ways to overcome your fear of sharing the Good News with others.

Thanks so much for peeking in!

Worship in the Pain

David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked. “Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.” Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate. 2 Samuel 12:19-20

Friends, this is a hard passage in Scripture. This is a sensitive subject, especially for those who have lost a child. I'm truly sorry if you have experienced that personally. I don't want to make light of any suffering and pray that my words don't cause any harm.
David was in pain because of a consequence of his sin. He was intimate with Bathsheba, got her pregnant and tried to cover it up by bringing her husband home. But then ultimately, he had her husband killed. Nathan came to David and told him that God had taken away his sin and had forgiven him, but one of the consequences was that his newborn son would die. Sometimes our pain is a consequence of our own or someone else's sin. But, other times we are in pain; and that pain is not caused by anything we or someone else did. Either way, we will have pain. Life just hurts sometimes because we live in a fallen world. We can take hope in Jesus' words in John 16:33, "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Verse 20 tells us that upon hearing his son had died, David went to the house of the Lord and worshiped. He what??!! I don't know about you, but worshiping God at a time like that seems hard- extremely hard. And it's easy to talk about what we should do in those situations when we're not right in the middle of them. I don't have the "how to's" on worshiping God when you're in a pit of despair, sadness, or pain. But I will say this: keep going to Him- in your grief, in your anger, in your confusion, in your guilt, in whatever you are feeling. Don't allow a difficult situation to cause distance between you and God. Keep going to Him. Cry out to Him. Cling to Him. Our God is good. He doesn't change because of our circumstances. He is always good. Hold onto that and praise Him for who He is.
For this page, I used water color crayons for the background. I used the following Sweet n Sassy Stamps sets: Fly HighSkinny Caps Alpha, & Rebecca Script. Fly High has a stamp that says "so I can". I used that stamp to stamp "so can I" by masking off the words when inking them so that I could stamp each word in the order I wanted them. I used a similar technique to stamp "pain". I used the "don't be afraid" stamp from Fly High. I masked off the "don't be" and the "a", "f", and part of the "r" & "d" of "afraid" to stamp "PAII". Then I drew in the lines to complete the "N". I hope that makes sense! I often mask of portions of a stamp so that I can make new words or phrases with them. I highlighted the letters with a White Sharpie, and added washi tape.

Higher Help

Hello friends!  Sometimes your friends, the world, the government, your spouse, and even your church do not have the answers or the help you need when your heart is overwhelmed.  Sometimes helping others can get your mind off your own troubles for just a while.  Sometimes listening to worship music can lift your spirits.  Often I can find solace in the Psalms...time and time again I read about how much God loves us, how he hears us when we cry out to him, how God alone is our salvation, and our hope is in him alone!

The hills and sky were watercolored with Neocolor 2 Crayons.  The elephant (**so cute**) from the Fly High stamp set designed by Rebecca Rios was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and the balloons were pieced with washi tape.  A white paint pen was used for the highlights.  Skinny Caps Alpha, Skinny Lowercase Alpha, Words of Life: Common Words 1, Awesome Thoughts, and Seek Him stamp sets along with some hand lettering were used to complete this page.

"Hear my cry, O God,
listen to my prayer;
from the end of the earth I call to you
when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the rock
that is higher than I,
for you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy."
(Psalm 61:1-3) ESV

If you are feeling overwhelmed and your heart is faint, higher help is available for you!
Cry out to Jesus!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!
I hope you've been lifted up!
