Prince of Peace

And he [Jesus] will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

In kingdom rule, the Prince is granted authority as designated by the king.  This passage reflects the granting of authority to Christ, the awaited Messiah.  The initial part of the passage gives greater insight on the authority Jesus is given, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders."  Christ carries all governments.  No plan forged by earthly leaders will foil the plan that God has for this world.  God is sovereign above all earthly authority.  Knowing that God is in charge and all will happen as He wills gives me great comfort.

One of the most amazing areas of Christ's authority is over the realm of PEACE.  It is Christ who grants peace.  Think of when he calmed the storm on the sea of Galilee. He evoked his power and authority over chaos; He had the power to declare peace over the raging waves (Mark 4:39).  He had that authority as the Prince of Peace.

As we look at our world in turmoil, we see the tempest of the enemy raging. We need not fear.  God is sovereign and the Prince of Peace is still in control.  Our responsibility is to trust and serve Him until he brings an end to the storms we see in our world.  With the same authority, Christ can declare peace over the storms in your own life.  If you are tossed about by a sea of doubt, fear and trouble, the Prince of Peace is near to you.  You have only to call upon Him and he will either quiet the storms that assail you or He will quiet your spirit and reassure you that He is with you through the storm.

I used two stamp sets to design this simple page, Christmas Botanicals and Peace on Earth, both Krista Hamrick sets, available at Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.   Everything is colored with Prismacolor Pencils.

Emmanuel

Hello everyone! Today I want to show you a page from my art journal. It's a little bit different than bible journaling but I still like the freedom watercolor paper gives me, especially compared to the papers in my bible. Next to my bible journal I have a 'regular' journal with watercolor paper that I use a lot.
For this page I made a frame with the Christmas Botanicals stamps. I started with the two flowers that are 'on top' of the frame. I masked the rectangular area with a couple of post-it's after I stamped these flowers. I stamped the other flowers around the rectangle to make a border with flowers. When the entire border was covered with leaves and flowers I removed the post-it's and drew a border around the rectangle with a black fineliner.

After I finished the border I could start coloring the flowers. I used watercolor brush markers and a water brush to color everything. I limited my colors to red, green and a tiny bit of yellow. I wanted to add a message to the center of the rectangle and keep the 'Christmas feeling'. To keep this feeling I chose a gold watercolor and I lettered everything with a dip pen.

Our King

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout, daughter Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." Zechariah 9:9

Dear Friends,

Many in our country are suffering- hurricanes, fires... personal trials.... I am praying for all who have been affected by the fires and hurricanes. I'm also praying for our country and for the world. Our world is groaning. Think how hopeless it would all seem if not for Jesus.

Many are searching and searching but they don't realize Jesus is what they need. Those of us who know Jesus have hope no matter what situation or circumstance we may find ourselves in. Zechariah 9:9 prophesied Jesus' entry into Jerusalem before He was crucified. He was our King then, already righteous and victorious; and He is our King now STILL righteous and victorious. Rest in Him and His victory.

I used a newly released set for this page called Christmas Botanicals. It's a Christmas set, but this shows how versatile it is. It doesn't have to just be used for Christmas! It's available for pre-order now at Sweet n Sassy Stamps. I also used Mini Grunge Type Alpha and Worthy King.

For the color, I used watercolors and blew the color around the page with a straw. Then I stamped the images on top of the paint.

In Him, Andrea
