I CHOOSE FAITH

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

Faith is choosing to believe in something that we cannot see.  We can't see the world spinning on its axis, but we believe it to be true.  We can't even feel it happening around us, although the world is spinning at the breakneck speed of roughly 1000 mph!  We simply have faith in gravity that we won't be catapulted into outerspace.

Likewise, we cannot see the person of God, but we have faith that He is real.  We may not feel His presence, but we can choose to believe that He is with us.  Often, we can base this faith on what we see God doing, or what He has done for us in the past.  However, there are times when we may struggle because we can't see any evidence of God at work.  That is when we have to CHOOSE TO HAVE FAITH!

I created this colorful, interactive page in my 100 Days of Bible Promises Devotional.  I wanted to graphically demonstrate the spinning world, so I made a stamped and colored world that spins on a paper-fastener-axis.  I used the Send Me stamp set for the world and the arrows.  I then wanted to create a texure-full background of outerspace, so I used all three Texture Tiles sets to randomly stamp the fabric and fiber of the cosmos, and colored them with Jane Davenport Watercolors.  I embossed the word "faith" from the Life in Jesus set, and fashioned a tiny tag with "I choose" stamped inside.  I finished on the page with a tag, washi tape, a date flag, and bow.

You can see how the whole page came together in the process video on my YouTube channel or using the link below.

Have faith, my friends!  And when you don't, then choose to have faith anyway!

Jesus saved the world!

It's almost Valentines day. I don't have a Valentine so nothing special planned for me. But... I read a compilation of different bible verses called 'Fathers love letter' recently and these messages were so beautiful that I had to work with them in my bible. This one stood out to me because Jesus saved the entire world and it didn't just stop there. He turned us from enemies into friends. Talking about love... amazing love!

This message is in 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (I'm using the Good News translation here, for a non-native speaker this part was way more clear than the ones that talk about reconciliation. A word that's not used a lot in the Netherlands 😉).

'All this is done by God, who through Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also. Our message is that God was making all human beings his friends through Christ. God did not keep an account of their sins, and he has given us the message which tells how he makes them his friends.'

I used ink and colored pencils to add some color to this page. And of course the beautiful 'My Savior' stamp set for the images! (except for the hearts and border around the message, these are just hand drawn).

Praise God for His unspeakable gift

Hello everyone! I hope you had a lovely Christmas! The Christmas days reminded me of this verse in Corinthians: Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15). It's amazing that God would give us his own life, and not only his life. He wanted to experience the same things as we do as a human. The happy and beautiful moments, but even the pain and vulnerability. He has experienced moments of joy and despair. No matter what we feel, He knows it. Because He wanted to become a human, to save us all. An amazing gift I can't comprehend.

I love the banner and the birds from the 'Give Praise' stamp set and decided to use them for this page. I made my background first with some distress inks, I used pretty light colors so I didn't mask anything on my page. I sprayed a little bit of fixative spray on top of the distress inks because my bible paper is really smooth and thin and doesn't really absorb the inks. This way they will stick to the page better (and take a shorter time to dry so that's another reason I use the spray a lot with my inks). But because the fixative spray I use is water based it gives some 'drops' on the background. I love the playful effect they give to the pages so I don't mind it.

After the background has dried I stamped the images with black ink. I used a grey ink for the banner because it touches the messages in my bible and I still want to be able to read them. This way the black words still shine through the banner. The word 'praise' is in the stamp set too, for the rest of the message I used a black fineliner.

For We Walk By Faith - by Audrey

Hello there!  Audrey here!  Today I have a Bible Journaling page to share with you!  I recently started my Bible Journaling journey, and I am thrilled to see so many products hitting the market with Bible Journaling in mind!  I just love that the Creative Worship line is filled with such a variety of designs!  My favorite alphabet set is part of the He is Risen Bible Journaling Kit. The "Love Ya Like a Sister" alpha is the perfect size for bible margins, and it's fun, whimsical style is perfect for a variety of themes!

I chose to journal 2 Corinthians 5:7 - "for we walk by faith, not by sight".  I started off by scraping several colors of heavy body acrylic paint on to my page with an old credit card.  After the paint was dry, I stamped the verse with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  It required A LOT of drying time, even using a heat tool.  The ink was sitting on top of the acrylic paint, and because of that, it stayed wet longer.  (Don't look too closely as my little fingerprint smudges *wink*).    I added a few cardstock stickers, and some hand drawn doodles to finish off my page.

Walk by Faith

Here you can see how I chose to highlight the verse I was journaling.  A swipe of acrylic paint really draws the eye to the bottom of the page.

Walk by Faith

That's all for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
